What is the procedure for Bowen Therapy session?
The therapist uses thumbs or fingers to perform a gentle rolling motion across muscle, tendon, or nerve bundles, aiming to release restrictions. A key component is the therapist leaving the room for 2-5 minutes between sets of moves to allow the body to process and integrate the "re-setting" the neuromuscular system.
Bowen Therapy is performed thru clothing and a large cotton t-shirt is provided (or you can bring your own) to wear during the session. Also the client is covered with a blanket during the session to keep the body warm and comfortable.
After a Bowen Therapy session results vary greatly depending on the person. Most people feel completely relaxed and energized following their session. As for pain most people feel an immediate decrease in their body however some may feel an increase in pain which generally goes away after a day or 2. The effects of Bowen take about a week to cascade throughout your body’s intricate physiological structures.
Post-Treatment Care
After a Bowen Therapy session it is advised to drink plenty of water and go for short walks to help the body integrate the changes.
Sessions are often spaced 5-10 days apart, with relief sometimes felt after one session, though 3-5 sessions are typically recommended for lasting results.
Session may also include any of the following: Amethyst Biomat, Sonic Wave Therapy, Scalar Wave Laser.
